I have the same problem. I have a 2004 (08/04 build) X5 3.0. I have the Bluetooth module, antenna and the passkey with the owners manual. The car will not go into pairing mode. Sometimes, while driving, the red light on the MID will come on from time to time, but that's about it.

I gave up after a while. If you find something out, let us know.
