Doesn't leak through the rubber tire wall as quickly as air thereby maintaining proper tire pressure longer (unless you check your pressures regularly anyways). This obviously leads to better tire wear and fuel economy as you have the right pressure in your tires longer. It also reduces wheel corrosion as there is no moisture in the nitrogen...unlike air.
I've never bothered with it, but some of my friends swear by it.
