That's funny... I'm now viewing this message/link from my work PC and there's NO .dot in the filename!

An hour earlier (from my home MacBook Pro) the .dot was there and I had to delete it. Mind you I was using Safari on the Mac. As for the issue of OS X previewing a .doc document (without Office installed) I do believe it has that capability.
