V8 power for the sake of saying you have V8 power is over. BMW has a very strong line of inline 6 engines so they can easily transition more production to those. Even the 3.0 Turbo gets great mileage for a 300HP engine. I get about 20MPG in mixed driving (driving hard) and as high as 28 if I am trying to conserve. Freeway regularly goes over 30mpg.

I never quite understood how the V8 engine got so popular in the states, They are almost always overkill for the intended use. I guess cheap gas made buying the most HP acceptable.
