Here is a worse story, my father who has a metal brace, walked up to a TSA checkpoint and told the guy "If I go through that my brace will go off" The TSA persons response "do you have a ticket?", "yes", "..just go".
Now you are required to have a picture ID to get a flight....wonderful. Now just wait, pretty soon it will be a requirement for trains followed by "let me see your papers" when you go to another state...all to give the false impression of security.
I have yet to see a concrete example of how any of this non-sense has made the country internally more secure. Now, international flights maybe. But hops internal to the US, I haven't seen a "looky who we caught" yet.
