The fastest I've driven in a car is 138mph and the reason I know it was that speed was because I had one of those output things fitted to my subaru that when you pressed different buttons and it gave all different types of readings.
The best sensation of speed I get is when I never break the national speed limit but I am in my Mini and we are driving the twisty roads.
