Poverty is a problem that took more than 8 years to create, and it will take more than 8 years to fix. But whenever progress has been made by one administration, it has usually been squandered by the next.
If you compare poverty numbers from when FDR took office until when he died, I'd say there was very big progress. Likewise, if you compare poverty when JFK took office to when LBJ left office, there was fairly good progress.
On the other hand, take a look at when Reagan took office until when he left, or our current president, and you will see a large rise in poverty over those periods.
Other countries have solved the problem of poverty. Why do you think we are incapable of it? Are we not as good or as capable as they are?
