I think it is rare for snakes to travel in groups. One is probably all there is.

I had a rattlesnake in my garage. I was doing a brake job, bending down of course, with my butt under the workbench for the right-hand side portion. I kept hearing a funny scraping noise and finally paid attention to it only to find that this snake had been inches from my butt for maybe an hour or so.

Now we have a couple of semi-tame feral cats. Nice and entertaining and no snakes since.
