And you have historical justification to do so... from 1948 to 1964 Philippine Independence Day was July 4th... because the US 'granted' the Philippines Independence on a day to match its own. ONly in 1964 did it change back to June 12.
On the issue of singing 'something else other than the Star-Spangled-Banner thats totally out of line and in bad taste. There should be a law against that... its just like hanging the flag upside down.
One thing I find interesting is that the American National Anthem seems very difficult to sing due to the wide tonal range required. There also seems to be no 'standard way' of singing it as each performer has his/her own take on it... not to mention forgetting the words.
