I did not realize my stand on defending myself would create suchh a firestorm of opinion. Let me say I also believe gun safety course and instruction of proper handling should be manditory. (think driver's ed here) I took them for my own safety. Never owned one until Clinton became President. Living in NJ required background checks (weeks), firearms permit issued by local police chief, forms to buy each weapon, registration of each weapon, and forget a right to carry or concealed weapons permit unless you were carrying diamonds regularly.
So I move to Idaho 4 years ago and go down to the police dept to register my weapons. The desk sargeant looks at me, tells me to wait a minute, goes in the back room to talk to her Lt, comes back out, then tells me " You don't have to register your pistols in Idaho, but if you want a concealed weapons permit, that office is around the corner. You're out WEST now!"
