I have 3 X3's, and the newest one is a 2008 we picked up at the Welt in December. It shifts like my wife did when she was learning to drive a stick with manual choke, herky jerky both on upshifts and downshifts, if it is a learning transmission it is dummer than a rock. Our other X3's '04 and '06 shift seamlessly, and if it were'not for the tack, you would not even know a shift occurred. To quote my wife who used to drive the car, "Did anyone at BMW drive this thing, it is dangerous". 3 X now she has almost been t-boned when it lurched into traffic, once in a Newport Parking Garage it lurched towards a concrete column, she just should have let it wrap itself arround the column. We have had the NPF story with the dealer enough times now to go the Lemon Law route. She won't use the car, and takes the old X3 when she can. Just be forwarned about the worst BMW I have ever owned (I have had nine) and this will be my last one.f
