I remember I always took the most advanced math level from middle school up until junior year in HS, when I opted for Calc AB instead of BC. I took Algebra in 7th grade, Geometry in 8th. It was a lot of work, but really, it was peer pressure in my surroundings that kept me going.

At my middle school, it was the norm to finish algebra by the end of 8th grade. Most kids would take the subsequent (and dead end) Geometry course over 8th grade summer, catching up to the rest of us in freshman year of high school, with Algebra II.

I AP tested out of my math/science, history, and writing requirements. I transferred my humanities credits from a community college and fulfilled that requirement as well. All in all, 10 AP exams and 36 transfer credits entering UVa last fall. I had no trouble academically in a college environment. I think all that hard work really paid off because college seems like a relative breeze now.
