According to the owners manual, that system doesn't monitor tire pressure, but the rolling circumference and therefore the rotation speed. If it is different than the other tires, it will let you know that something is wrong. Check page (92) of the manual.

I just bought an '08 on Sunday and experienced my first flat tire today. Thank god for the running flat system, but frustrating as it cost me 300.00.
