Which Akebono pads did you get- the ceramic or the organic. Had the organic in my wife's V8 Explorer EB and they would fade under hard braking, worse than the stock Ford pads. Switched to the ceramic and was much better, superior braking to the OE pads, a lot less dust, and so far no noise. However, the ceramic was double the price of the organic. Make sure the place you got them from didn't low-ball you and sell you the organics.
