The centipedes like some moisture, so it may be that you have "new house damp"
until the huge amount of residual moisture expels itself; cold winter with heat on
and low humidity often helps. A dehumidifier, (cheap at Lowes, et al), should help
reduce the basement moisture in meantime.
Centipedes can bite but you have to piss them off and they seldom travel upstairs...
spiders I am a fan of, as I figure they are picking off any stray bugs and if not, they
will croak too.
Imo, the pest terminators tend to really go overboard with the spray and usually use
a one chemical fits all approach...but, it's your house.
As B-Line said, check them out and avoid a service contract; it's built-in bs/margin, imo.
