i'd just started a 3 hour drive to a meeting yesterday and it started raining like you would not believe.

As per normal the Auto Windscreen wipers came on, all fine. Then after about 15 mins they just stopped and the rain was still coming down heavy. After a few seconds I moved the wiper swich up and down and nothing. The wipers had just stopped working on any setting.

So I pulled over turned the car off waited a few mins and then restarted and still nothing.

At this point I called BMW Emergency Service and they were in the process of getting an BMW engineer out to me and all of a sudden I tried the switch and the wipers started working again.

So I cancelled the callout and carried on my journey and they worked fine and hasn't done it again.

Has anyone heard of this? is it a comon fault, is something breaking down? My X is covered under warranty so I'll get it sorted anyway but just wondered if anyone had had a similar experiance.
