Okay peeps need a little help on an email that I just got. I ordered something in Canada and it is being held at custom. They want me to pay approximately $56...I do not mind the amount but, will not send my SS number to anyone. What should I do?
Hello Gerald
I have just left you a voicemail at 610 xxx xxxx but wanted to also contact you via email.
Asptuning of Calgary is shipping a package to you (see attached invoice) consisting of an Automotive Trim & Mounting Tape for this trim. Asptuning has indicated to me that you are paying for the Duty & Brokerage for this shipment. If you are a company, we can bill your company this fee, but we'd need your company IRS# (Federal Tax ID#). If you are an individual, we would need your credit card info, as well as your Social Security number (Credit Card info for the bill from FedEx to you for the Clearance, and your Social Security number for US Customs as they require it).
Either way the total charges will be as follows : $17.00 for Brokerage, $9.00 for phone calls (we have made several, to the shipper as well as to you, but only charging for one) and the total Duty & MPF (merchandise processing fee) total $56.54.
Duty for Auto Trim from Taiwan is $5.50, Duty for Tape is $0.04, Brokerage is $17.00, phone calls $9.00 but the biggest charge here is the U S Customs charge of Merchandise Processing Fee $25.00. This amount is payable to Customs, as well as the duty, FedEx Trade does not make any revenue from those charges.
Gerald, please let Linda Gennamore know if you will accept this amount of Duty & Brokerage, and thank you. She is available at 716-879-1542.
Best Regards
Audrey Hibit
