Most likely the problem is exactly what the nav says: the map DVD is not made for your nav
BMW have different format map discs for different generation nav systems, your map DVD probably is the version for the E90/E60 etc, with the newer nav system
Tip: Australia doesn't need to be stored on a DVD, the map size is only around 150MB, so it fits on a CD easily.

Yes I think you might be right.
I initially thought it was the firmware because the splash logo would struggle to come up (if it even bothered at all)
That seems to have settled down now. I think clearly I have the wrong version. It was simple when it was all CD but it looks like there are three DVD versions for Australia. Not sure you can even buy upgraded CDs now. My Nokia phone has a pretty good map and it is only 109 meg.
I have v31 installed on a brand new MK4 system. Anyone have an idea what type of map DVD I require?
BMW wanted my chassis number which isn’t relevant anymore. Once they know I have tampered with it they don’t seem to be interested in helping.
