Some Thoughts from my view of the Debates so far:
I wonder if our nation will ever get to a point in the future where we make a judgment on Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates that go beyond such superficial aspects. Maybe it is human nature to be so picky about such inconsequential things as appearance, accent, choice of words, etc., as opposed to where they stand on the issues that really affect this country. Also, when are the majority of Americans going to wake up, pull their heads out of the sand, question what the news media (both right and left leaning sources), is feeding them, and pro-actively educate themselves on what each of the candidates say they will do and learning what what they have done in the past, (as far as voting on previous issues...). Will we as a country once again become a dynamic, participatory Democracy demanding accountably and responsibility. Or will our society continue to drift off on our mindless consumer quest for more truly unnecessary "stuff", pursuing passive mind-numbing leisure activities, ( i.e. video games, etc.), forsaking mind-growing learning activities. Are we really as dumb as some political advisers think we are to believe much of the rehearsed blather that we are hearing vs. facts that can be checked and confirmed? Are we really that naive? I hope that people will step up and show that America can correct its course by choosing the best candidates for President/Vice President. If not, I think we will see our country follow in the footsteps of Great Britain, shrinking from its once global Empire and stature to a shrunken version of its former self, living off of reputation and attitude.
