I had the same issue on my 645ci.
Try to reset the I drive system. That will eject both cd's in both drives.
I used to do that on my 645ci by pressing the power(volume)controler,eject button of the cd drive and eject button of the DVD drive too. press them all three for a few seconds at the same time, the screen will shows the bmw logo. (I havent tried that on my x5 yet,but tried it on the 6, and it worked
