From the looks of things, this part can be either purchased primed, or not primed. The one off my X5 appears to be solid black throughout, so I'm a bit surprised that you can get it as primed. Is this expected, that a piece of plastic trim would need to be painted?

Answer: Yes, as this piece is supposed to be painted the same color as your X. If it's black then you must have a black X.

(2) Rear Fender Trim: 51127046919
The part displayed on the above diagram doesn't quite look like the fender trim, but I can't find anything else that comes close to matching the part I'm holding in my hand (which has a part number that's apparently been deprecated). The displayed part appears to have a 'tab' on the bottom part, something that the damaged part has (likewise, the passenger side trim doesn't have this piece as well).

Answer: It's the same piece. You just can't see the tab when it's installed.
