Y'all sound like you have 2 different problems... klnteg sounds like an intermittent power supply kinda problem and MajorWebUser has an intermittent crank/no start problem, which woulldn't have been the starter actuator... if it spins over but doesn't catch, the starter is working fine... Sounds to me like perhaps it didn't see the crank sensor or something to that effect.

As for the op's problem, did you check the battery connections? And also check the connection condition at the jump point under the hood, as the cable from there is the one that goes to the starter and altenator. I've seen that one get a bad connection and melt a bit.
