The answer is no and if the media plays it that way they would be playing with fire.

The facts are that Obama is a major party candidate; he is leading in the polls, with a legitimate chance of winning. If he does not win, it does not mean the country is racist. If it was he would not have been a contender in the first place.

On the other hand, one cannot argue that there are no racist elements in the country. Are they large enough to change an election? If it as close as the last two elections, my answer would be yes.
