One thing I can tell you is inspiration cannot be scheduled. Typically, an artists best work is done after 1am through the morning.
Get the first one down in one shot, starting in the afternoon.(you will hate it)

Then riding that wave, stay up through the night re-doing the original painting, working off your inpsiration and vision of what you were expecting. Hopefully your mechanics will support your eye.
That's happened a few times for me and the results were always good. I always enjoyed getting out the 4 inch house brush and washing a canvas red with anger before restarting.
