That was to change the socket too bc they fig since they have to take the whole damn thing out why not replace another part so they dont have to do it later.

The socket has nickel plated connector that loose it "springyness" thus making very poor contact. Mine gives warning in rainiy cold day, so I took it out check the bulb(which of course is good). My fix is to sand the nickel off, solder some tin/flux and no more anoying false bulb-out warning (for 2-3 years now).
Or you can go to dealer and get the new socket which shouldn't be more than $15, I was either cheap or resourceful
