Here is my $0.02

The world is not a perfect or an ideal place under normal conditions; it is less perfect in war time. Obama himself stated that if his administration knew of a high value target in Pakistan, he would order to take it out. Two things in this statement address the incident being discussed here:
- Obama a left leaning candidate and is not as hawkish as the current administration
- Pakistan has been a good ally against terrorism (regardless of what some might think) and is a nuclear power. It is not Syria.
My understanding is this: let the people on the ground assess the situation and act accordingly, and let the people in the white house/foreign ministry take care of the political implications. If you know that you have a key target in your sight, it really hard not smoke them… it is human nature and it!!

That said, it does not hurt to speak softly!
