I assume you are not leasing the vehicle? If it's your own vehicle, you can put whatever you want on it, and, as mentioned earlier, tirerack.com has an extensive fitment database you can access to see what really fits. They are also happy to talk to you about it over the phone.

If it is leased, then I suppose it is debatable whether or not you can put non-BMW approved tires on it.
