What about buying and trying the BMW's own touch-up paint pen? I bought one myself just in case, but never used it before, so can't say how good it is, but since it's BMW's own product, I was confident the color would match and the quality at least not too shabby.
I can look into that too but I'm worried about making it worse. I've used touch-up paint before on another vehicle but didn't know anything about it and it left a nice line that I didn't know I had to sand even. I have no desire to use sandpaper on this thing without proper experience.

I can't believe some people charge hundreds of dollars for repairing as stated... isn't it only an hour or two of labor? I don't think I'll need brand new paint here... hopefully it will be less than $100 or so.
