Sorry to hear about your job situation 4MoJoe. If I were you I would sale the X and buy a cheap American brand car until you get a job and recover and only then go back to the Bimmer family if that is what you want. Beside the purchase price a Bimmer or foreign car will likely cost you more to maintain than a American brand car. In your current situation a better car can always wait. I almost went that way at the beginning of the year after going thru a costly divorce and big alimony to pay on top of my daughter's college expenses still to pay. I bought a used Ford Ranger pickup truck cheap to run and maintain and was about to sale the X and 323. I was fortunate enough to have a good and well paid job though and thanks to pretty severe downsizing in my everyday expenses I was able to recover pretty well in the the following 8 months or so. In the meantime I put the old truck back in shape myself (changed brakes, brake line, master cylinder, fixed the A/C, etc...) and I use it now as my everyday car. Price for parts for the Ford were a fraction of what it would have been for the Bimmers plus it is easier to work on so I could do everything myself which was the plan. Thanks to this I was able to keep the X and 323. Not lecturing you here, just sharing my experience. Again I wish you the best in finding a new job.
