I have a 2004 X5. I installed an aftermarket trailer hitch at UHaul. Since the installation the dash display indicates "check brake lights" when I step on the brakes. My local BMW dealer has told me that in order to solve the problem I must install a BMW wiring harness at a cost of $1,000.00 +. Does anyone have any advice on this?
