Once in motion you can not engage the P, but one observation, by mistake and while you are moving your arm, you can push the shifter out of D and into N, so if you are tarveling at, say 60 MPH, foot on the gas you will get the engine to rev up fast even past 6k RPM. but this will disengage the cruise control if you are using it. In other brand name cars the shifter is locked in the N or D position until you push the same button you use to engage the R.
