If you buy very much extended warranty Dell laptops should be fine IMO. If you are concerned more about build quality than pricing, I don't know what else I should recommend if you don't believe that a laptop is consumable product.

In Asia, especially in Korea, it seems like a Toshiba laptop is the king, not Samsung or LG. The models sold there are very pricy and yet they tend to hold vaulues.
