The navigation computer runs the entire display, even when you are not looking at a map. When it crashes, the screen typically goes black for a moment, then you get the ===BMW=== boot screen, and it eventually comes back up. Other times, it simply freezes until you turn the car off and back on. There is no dramatic blue screen of death, like in Windows.
