Big open question, but I guess the first question back to you is how much do you want to spend? $$$$

If you want to go with OEM equipment, be prepared to shell out a few bucks to replace your Nav computer or just update the software (about +$300) to get updated maps with added POIs. For XM, look at DICE or BSW systems you will find add on modules for the features you desire but can get quite costly.... You can find many post on this site on both systems.

Me, I chose to just scrap the BMW system and go with aftermarket Alpine system. Was able to intergrate system with steering wheel controls and system sounds superb, only downfall is I do not get the text displayed on the dash display. But I have DVD, Ipod, NAV, XBox, TV, bluetooth and 4 independently sourced monitors, with vol, track, source and mute all controlled from the steering wheel.
