never wipe it to the paint if it is dirty, take the top off and just let the rest melt as the day goes. Actually, I will rarely clean it to the paint because you never what's under the snow. Park it in the sun or garage overnight.

Synthetic wax will work best over the winter. Check for some p21s from the detail forum guy. After applying, let it cure overnight in the garage, remove the next day. Be sure to clay the car before waxing.
