You are right!!!! I guess I keep forgetting that is why I would get rid of the factory amp and install my own.... But still with most of the component systems you want to use the provided crossovers to ensure they have the correct crossover points for that speaker set....
BMW crossover points may be OK but why take the chance and ruin the speakers, because most component sets can get to be quite expensive.
I have seem in some where bass blockers were used in lue of crossovers which sometimes produced a popping sound when a note outside the limit was reached.... But all my Beemers had the DSP system so I can't say for sure whether all are crossover systems or just bass blockers on the tweets
