What I was referring to there was a vacuum hose to the secondary air control valve, but it only gets vacuum when that system is switched on. Usually the little vacuum hose gets dry/brittle at the nipple from heat. It would be the little vacuum hose that goes to #8 on this link.

But that hose is not the likely cause of lean mixture faults. I'm guessing you have a 4.4i since you said you changed the vent hoses... And I'm also guessing you're getting the same lean mixture faults as the OP?
