If the crankcase hoses were both shot, it's likely the oil return from the separator is in just as bad condition at the soft joint. At higher mileages on the M62 engine it is usually needed to just do it all at once. What I usually do is remove the manifold, replace all gaskets including the front and rear plates of the manifold and throttle body gasket. While the manifold is off I'd also replace the coolant valley pan.

And since you already replaced the top 2 hoses to the valve, you should replace the one from the bottom of the separator valve... but that ones more of a bitch to get to.
