This is a gross generalization and not accurate. That's like saying "SUV's are better than minivans". They can both accomplish similar things, but each fits needs that are unique and preferences very greatly.

The differences in picture quality are narrowing between LCDs and plasmas, however they each have huge pros and cons. I won't go over the details because there is sooo much literature about the topic. A well researched and informed opinion with one coming to his/her own conclusions is best .

I agree that LCDs are more user friendly and appeal to a much wider consumer audience, and they have made huge strides in picture quality over the last 3-5 years. However, they are not the best solution for everyone in every setting. I have a 50" plasma personally (Panasonic), a 62" plasma (LG), and a 37" LCD (Sony). I'm extremely happy with all 3 and I use them all for completely different applications.
