Realchef:

Glad to hear it worked OK.

I was up country the last few days, covered 1500 km in very poor conditions. The X3 did great; as you noted, there is occasional plowing at low speed but I found that I got around fine with the DSC on, including in deeper snow. We were on packed snow and ice most of the time, temperatures in the -20 C to -30 C range the whole trip.

One thing I did play with on this trip was the DSC switch. I had used it before on the X5 just to see what it did, but I found with the X3 that it functioned differently. With one push of the DSC button the DTC light came on, as expected. Holding it for ten seconds then lit up a second light labelled 4x4. I don't remember that from the X5, there was only one light IIRC. With the X5 you had to restart the car to reset it; with the X3, another push of the DSC button brings the system back to normal settings (DSC on). I never needed to turn the DSC off, even in deep snow or starting on a hill.
