Nice nice. Yeah I'd imagine most of the real "SUV"s and not "SAV"s have better snow and off road performance. I always wanted to get into serious off-roading but never got the time...but if I did I would probably buy a used HUMMER H1. The reality for me is, I spend a majority of the time on paved roads (usually dry, occasionally snowed or rained on), so having something to haul stuff in while maintaining a sporty ride and having the safety of more metal around me are my main concerns...and that's what the X5 does perfectly.
But my few off-roading tests this week have shown me that even on the stock RFTs, the AWD system BMW has works amazingly and can keep me moving. (I'd say it's as good as Quattro)
Anyways, thanks for post with your similar experiences as mine, and hopefully we both like our X5's in the long haul. As for me, I am now looking for a E92 M3 or Z4 M Coupe to add to my garage.
