You may have a DSC/ABS warning light on, I have never in 4 1/2 years at BMW dealer seen a brake fluid change due light, other than newer cars wi CBS data through i-drive etc. But not on an E53.

If it is telling you "brake fluid due" then maybe go to the dealer and tell them you did it and just need the light reset, if it is the triangle with the ! in the middle, I'd think there is some fault in the system.
