I don't want to punish though, at least I dont' think that is what I'd be doing. The people that smoke them should not be punished. However, I can see the point that taxing them much more is punishing the smokers.
One of the arguments is that 2nd & 3rd hand smoke hurt others as well and ultimately this all costs everyone more either in insurance costs or gov't provided medical coverage.
Doesn't that hurt the majority?

So what are we debating now, if smoking is bad? I think that has been pretty well established. But..heard disease is bad too. Don't see petitions to TAX McDonalds 
Also, again....AGAIN...we should be FAR more concerned about alcohol then smoking. But for some reason we don't give that near enough pub. Instead, we have DUI night on New Years Eve...and cops wasting their time chasing drunks....
