Can't do any comparison on speed (it seems OK) but my iPod and my iPhone 3G
do charge on my 6FL USB option in my 2008 E70.
Maybe the iPod retrofit, referred to earlier, is something different.
I have part # 61120440796 -- the original 6FL part # was 61120440645
