It certainly seems that the 2541 does give you the range and a slightly greater power handling ability. This may not make a difference in the set-up we are discussing here, but couldn't hurt, either.

Crutchfield doesn't even list the 251, so perhaps that is an older model now. I ordered it anyway, for better or worse.
