That's a bit over the top. Did the service people tell you that was normal? Mine, though an 01, does not ready oil level low until it has lost half of the 8q it needs, perhaps 5qt. Don't ask why I know.

I'd be suspicious of the sensor, personally. What is it going to do if you actually lose half your lube? Touchy sensors defeat the purpose.

But your engine is fine if it is eating half a quart. No big deal there, unless it did that in the 30 miles you went.
