Yeah, my mother is the office manager of 16 years of the only vet clinic down here that does birds and exotics... pretty much everything BUT cats and dogs. And we have a rehabilitation license, so every year we have numerous various animals come through that we rehabilitate and either release into the right environment or sanctuary. I think out next pet might be bought, unless one falls into our lap (which happens often apparently) will be either a pygmy goat or Nigerian dwarf goat.
The other previous pets that I really miss were the Asian water monitor and the 12 foot Burmese python. Yet again, both rescues. The python went to the Audubon zoo, the monitor went to the Global wildlife center. In the pond by the visitors station so the field tripping kids could play with it as it was extremely mild mannered and handle-able. (I used to walk it on a leash, or with it on my back with it's head over my shoulder as just the head/body was 2.5 feet with a longer tail.)
