but it never "pops up"; did I do something wrong on this 'puter?

Stuff like this drives me nuts...and when one digs on the net for help,
there are pages of not very helpful sites, mostly pitching their version
of spyware removal. (I use Ad Aware).

I don't know how the "average" idiot can even keep his box & systems
running. It seems it gets more complex by the day, and I really work at
staying slightly savvy and running a clean machine.
