While I still now don't believe we ever really went in for WMD's or even regime change, I believe we went in because we needed to have forces in the Middle East. And we might as well have our forces in an oil rich environment that also happened to house one of our enemies.
The war in Afghanistan, there is nothing to win. How do you win a war dropping a $100,000 bomb on a $10 hut or a $100 car? There is nothing to capture, nothing to control, nothing to win. At least in Iraq, we were chasing oil, which like it or not, is the blood that keeps the world moving.
I'm happy that Obama is going to pull out of Iraq because I think the American people need a break from the Bush policies, etc. But I also have no doubt that we will be going right back. With Iran the way it is, etc.
At least the Iraq war has kept the terrorists fighting in the Middle East.
Seeya Dubya.. Thanks for the memories.

Don't forget that Alquaeda(sp?) headquarters are in Pakistan-Afghanistan so you cannot totally ignore that area. The recent bombings in India targeting Jews, US citizens and others were done by Pakistan based terrorists. Afghanistan has been home to drugs for ages and that is pretty much a majority of drugs are grown. And you can guess what finances terrorists in that area.
