it is the sign that there is a whole bunch of junks (downloads and installs) on your computer that cause the problems. first of all, it creates a mess in windows registry what then causes the .dll and .exe files to load onto memory and stack up this then cause the conflict in memory and disc usage of the programs. the help you need is to buy (i recommend download) free software to fix your registry and clean up windows xp installation. here is the process:
-download spybot and destroy
-install and update it
-run to clean the spyware
-go to advance to run windows registry cleanup, do all.
-uninstall unwanted software from you computer.
-clean start up programs
-restart computer
-defragment your drive
-restart computer
-do the whole process one more time (only if you have time)
DONE, you now have a faster and problem free computer.
XP is much more stable than Vista, FIY.
DONE. (all can be done in spybot and destroy)
